Instagram Model Contacting the Wives of Men Who Send Her Dick Pics

Some guys still think it’s a good idea to woo a girl in that most traditional, time-honored way possible:

By sending them pictures of their naked manhood.

I guess it works for some guys. I mean, they must be having some success with it if they keep using it over and over again, right?

I’d like to think if you’re here at Gotham Club, though, you can come up with something a little better than “unzip, snap, and send.”

Pretty soon, you might not have a choice.

Over at Jezebel (not one of my regular reads, but sometimes a good story slips through), there’s an article about the inbox habits of Instagram model Emily Sears, who has a unique way of dealing with guys who send her genitally-focused photography:

She finds their wives, girlfriends, and mothers, and tells them about it!

When she’s feeling generous, Sears will merely respond to the dicks who send dick pics with screen captures from Facebook and Twitter that prove that she could easily contact their loved ones if she felt the inclination.

“We send the photos as a reminder for them to have respect for women,” Sears tells Buzzfeed News. “I think it provides an accountability that people seem to lose online; being behind a screen gives people a false sense of anonymity.”

“I think the first time I decided to contact a girlfriend was probably close to two years ago when I opened my Instagram inbox to yet another dick pic with an explicit caption about wanting to f— me from some random guy I’d never spoken to,” Laura told BuzzFeed News.“I wrote back, telling him that his behavior was terrible, and he replied with a string of sexual slurs and abuse, and kept calling me a slut.”

When Laura clicked on the profile of the man to block him, she noticed almost every photo he had posted was with his girlfriend, and was described in captions by his girlfriend as “the best boyfriend ever!”

“I guess I felt really sad for her,” Laura said. “So I sent her a message with a screenshot of our conversation telling her that I was really sorry, but I thought she deserved to know how her boyfriend was behaving towards other women. “I know if the roles were reversed and it was my boyfriend sending that shit out, I would want to know.”

I guess what they say about not texting anything you wouldn’t want your mother to see is right!

Sears, who estimates she receives about 1-2 dick pics a day, tells Buzzfeed that the number of photos have started to taper after she started publicizing her outing practices. Until she stops getting inappropriate photos entirely, she’s happy to do what she can to raise awareness of this dickerrific brand of online harassment.

“This isn’t just happening to models with a big followings,” she says. “It’s happening when women are online dating and denying matches with men. It can happen to any woman online, just like it can happen to any woman walking down the street.”

My gut feeling is that unless you have a “breathtaking” piece down there that’s a work of art in its own right, this is an issue of comfort. You’re more likely to get a positive reaction from a girl who’s, you know, actually seen your junk.

That way, it’s an “exciting taboo,” and doesn’t veer into “creepy” territory on its own, since you can gauge the girl’s reaction and adjust accordingly.

What’s interesting is that friend of the site Nick Sparks has maybe my favorite definition of being “creepy”:

“Creepy is when you do something, see that it makes her uncomfortable, and don’t stop doing it.”

-Nick Sparks

In this situation, apparently even “regular” women receive a bunch of these dick pics on online dating sites. All of these other guys are already making them uncomfortable, and I imagine they figure that, as a desirable man, you should pick up on that.

If you go ahead and send her a picture of your package, you’re playing into the creepiness that these other guys have already created!

You’re “just another creepy guy sending crotch shots.” You blend in, but in the worst possible way. Especially in this instance, you want to stand out from the crowd in a positive way.

At any rate, be careful who you send your junk pics to, guys–you never know where they might end up…
